Komoro Kaikoen Castle Park Autumn Maple Festival

Autumn leavesViewpointsCastles & history

Built into deep natural volcanic gorges beneath Mount Asama, Komoro Castle is one of Japan’s rare "hole castles" (anajiro), built below the town level. In autumn, the 400-year-old mossy volcanic stone walls, Ote-mon gate, and historic Suwa Shrine are engulfed in rich vermilion and gold maples, ranked among Japan’s Top 100 Cherry and Maple Spots.
