GunmaMount Myogi
One of Japan’s three celebrated unusual scenic formations, Mount Myogi is defined by serrated rock towers above forests and shrines. In autumn the dark cliffs contrast with red, orange and yellow foliage; nearby Myogi Onsen Momiji no Yu offers a relaxing stop after sightseeing.
Onioshidashi Lava Park
A garden of black lava blocks left by the 1783 eruption of Mount Asama, with walking paths between the rocks and Asama rising behind. A small temple stands among the lava. Entry is paid.
Tomioka Silk Mill
A UNESCO World Heritage site and National Treasure, Tomioka Silk Mill was Japan's first modern model silk-reeling factory, established in 1872 with French engineering. Its magnificent wooden-frame red-brick warehouses and massive reeling halls revolutionized the global silk trade and powered Japan's industrial modernization.
GunmaKuresaka Pass
A quiet historic mountain pass in Nakanojo connecting the Sawatari and Kuni areas. Forest paths surround the Bokusui Wakayama poetry monument, making the pass a subdued alternative to Gunma’s busier foliage destinations.
