Five mountain hot-spring districts—Hirayu, Fukuji, Shin-Hirayu, Tochio and Shinhotaka—form Okuhida Onsen-go. More than 100 baths combine open-air bathing with alpine scenery, autumn colour and deep winter snow; access and bathing rules vary by facility.
An annual riverside performance in which trained handlers hold cylindrical tezutsu fireworks that release fountains of sparks. The 2026 event took place on August 9 from 19:30 to 21:00 along the Miyagawa between Miyamaebashi and Fudobashi, about a 15-minute walk from Takayama Station.
Takayama’s vermilion Nakabashi Bridge crosses the Miyagawa beside the old town and Takayama Jinya. Seasonal evening illumination changes the scene through spring greenery, summer nights and other announced periods; each year’s dates should be confirmed before a night visit.

A reservation-based ride on electric-assisted rail bikes fixed to the former Kamioka Railway tracks. Town and canyon courses offer tunnels, bridges and mountain scenery; their starting points differ, and the attraction normally pauses during winter.
A secluded hot-spring village west of Matsumoto near Norikura and Kamikochi. Its mineral-rich water emerges clear and turns a distinctive milky white to pale blue after contact with air. The Alpico bus from Shin-Shimashima takes roughly 55–60 minutes, with seasonal timetables.
